Tesla was formed in Callifornia in late 1981 by bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon. Vocalist Jeff Keith, drummer Troy Luccketta and guitarist Tommy Skeoch joined them by 1984. In 1986 they changed their name from "City Kidd" to "Tesla". They had to changed it because there was already another band under that name. The band got their name, certain album, song titles and content from events relating to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. In their early career they toured with Alice Cooper, Poison and Def Leppard as support. They had a four year break between 1996 and 2000. In 2006 Tommy Skeoch left band to spend more time with family and get rid of addiction, he was replaced by Dave Rude. During their career their released seven albums, the last one in 20014. They are still creating and performing.
